  • Home Alone?

Well actually, I'm not, I thought I was going to be and I think I was secretly looking forward to it. Work has slashed the workforce so far back there has been only two of us in an office today that used to be work to 11. Feeling a little weary I thought that having an evening alone with just the computer and Twilight at 8 was the perfect evening.
Then came in my big lad... weary himself after a day at work and still feeling poorly due to a chest infection. He said a couple of his friends were going to the pictures tonight to see New Moon. My ears pricked up.
"I'll take you if you want to go." he said.
I looked at his little weary face and I heard him stifle a cough and I thought, no, I think a night in will be better for us both.
So! It's just me and the big lad. Me here, typing and swinging on the chair, and him next to me palying a football game on the PS2.

    Alnmam

I know this is the most unflattering picture of us both but we were giggling like school girls so this is the best we can do.

He's just told me about a sock situation he found himself in this morning. Still sleepy he fumbled his way through the sock draw and found some socks. He thought they felt a bit tight but he managed to stretch them out comfortably as the day wore on. Something alerted him to the ankle area and he was rather startled to discover this...

    Sock

It would seem I had inadvertantly put his sisters socks into his drawer...
So say hi to the Cocktail Cutie!

    Enjoy the weekend!

  • Music, Music, Music!

Music has always been a passion of mine. I love all different genres. I find music to be mood changing, usually from bad to good although I have experienced music that has had the reverse effect!
Both my children have been brought up with my musical tastes and enjoyed them.. until they were old enough to know better. I remember my son doing his party piece which was standing on the coffee table playing air guitar singing Bruce Springsteen’s Atlantic City (I think he was five) and my daughter used to drum her Early Learning Centre toys in time to Road to Hell!
My sons first concert was The Pogues and my daughters The Saw Doctors. My Son still loves the Pogues but has moved onto Stiff Little Fingers and Green Day. My daughter moved in a slightly different musical area visiting stages with Girls Aloud and Kylie Minogue upon them.
Tonight my daughter is going to her first concert unsupervised, to see the Jonas Brothers. (Did I hear you say who?) I’m making sure my daughter and her friend get to the venue and of course I will be seeing them to the door. We’ll arrange a rendezvous point at the end of the evening. Too soon to let go totally, she’s only 14… I need to take things slowly for my own sanity and my daughter does her best to placate me.

My son has kindly offered to keep me company whilst I hang about in Newcastle waiting for the concert to end. It’s only going to cost me a tank of petrol and a meal! *rolls eyes*

    Tapas I think…
It’s nice to make another step to let go of the youngster whilst being comforted by one I released earlier.

  • Weekend Looming

Well what a week it's been!
I like busy weeks, they make me appreciate the weekends a little more.
I'm going to post at least once a week here... I hope. I like the few blogs I've found (so far!) and commented on this week and I was most grateful for finding JackFrost Hypothyroidism blog. It just helps when you know that there are others with similar problems and issues. Gives you another perspective even. For that I was grateful.

So, nothing too extravagant planned for the weekend. Shopping, washing up, wimmins work in the home. I may have to sweep up after my husband if he manages to make a start, or should I say a finish, on the staircase... we are into the fifth year. It's time it was finished. He told me to put the step ladders in the living room as that would urge him on to make a start. I'd put them in bed with him if I thought it would help!

I'm hoping to go here this weekend. (I'm still not very good at adding links and images!)

I'll try and get some photographs and share next week!

  • Remembrance Day

In Flanders' fields the poppies blow...

  • Frosty Start

A frosty start to the day.. cold and dark but what beautiful sunrises. I noticed a photograph of the most beautiful sunrise and it was taken in my region and it was in OK! Magazine. (I'm not admitting to reading that rubbish... I just look at the pictures! :DD )
Blog.Co.Uk sent me an e-mail saying I hadn't logged in for over 90 days. I must admit to just completely forgetting about the place. I did a couple of entries a while back and I quite liked the meeting the few responders I had. I do have a friend over here who blogs a every now and then but all the others were new 'faces'.
Things are pretty uneventful in my everyday life I suppose I just feel I haven't enough to share. (For two blogs, as I already have a blog that I use only a little bit more than this one!) Why do I even have two blogs if I haven't enough to fill one!
*I'm loving all these little smiley's! I could play for hours! I think I'd be able to use every expression at least once!
Having mentioned the uneventful day to day life, last Satruday was a little bit different! I remember saying to myself on the morning,
"Wouldn't it be nice if something a little exciting happened today?"
    *Wish granted*
Our bit of excitement was the discovery of Fly!
We were all just fastening our seatbelts up in my car as we were going to visit the local pet store to buy Scruff, my dads dog, a new coat.
My dad noticed the collie at the top of the street and we all thought it unusual to see a dog wandering on its own. We watched it for a while longer as the dog appeared to take a 'hiding' position down the side of a parked car. The only problem with that the dog was 'hiding' on the roadside so cars were having to swerve and slow down to avoid it. I was concerned and just like what any other concerned mother would do, I sent my daughter up the road to coax the dog onto the safety of the pavement. My daughter checked the dogs collar and discovered a name and number disc. THat's when we found out his name was fly. So I telephoned his 'mum' and explained what had happened. She was delighted, you see her husband had already telephoned her to say that Fly had been spooked by a firework (middle of a Saturday afternoon!) and had took off. He had been searching for him for the past two hours.
My daughter opened the car door for Fly, it took him three seconds to jump in and take a comfy space next to Scruff. Scruff was highly excited! A Friend!
Withing 10 minutes he was delivered back to a rather happy owner!

So that was my excitement. It wasn't much vut it brightened my day! Oh and I got to meet FLly who was one of the cutest collies I have ever come across.

BTW! Scruff looks mighty fine in her new barbour jacket! Very swish!
