That would be the only plus point! It's dreadful where I am, wet and miserable. You get curled up on the sofa and rest and relax! x

Flighty it was amazing! The cathedral was brilliantly lit up! It had accompanying music and the lights told a story! We left just as the heavens opened. I never got any photos though as my camera was playing up!
The ladders are still in the shed so I won't hold my breath!

Yes I heard the weather warnings, Autumn storms are coming! Scotland and North East England are said to ok though... tropical temps I hear? ;o)
We are going to the Lumiere Festival tonight. It's only on til Sunday so I'd best make an effort while the weather is on my side! Hope you have a great weekend! Hold on tight!

I eargerly look forward to my son arriving with my grandaughter aged 3, as though I was a puppy waiting to be taken 'walkies' (as though I'm going to be having all the fun ) .
But they always arrive thirsty and hungry and in need of my undivided attention, so I'm 'feeding and watering' and listeneing to tales of woe and playing 'snap' and dancing and singing to Boney M 'Daddy Cool' is her favourite, over and over again...............
All of the above, all at the same time, it's like spinning plates on poles.
I collapse into the blissful silence of being alone once they've left..................

Aha.. they bring such joy. My boy is nearly 18. (Not as close to it as he keeps telling me though) and as I've mentioned, my daughter is 13. She wanders around with earphones in too. My aunt thought she had a hearing problem... I said yhat she does. She has a problem with having to listen to us!

I know how you feel. My son visits me once or twice a week and I get all excited looking forward to chatting. What does he do, he sits on the computer with his head phones in sigh.........

It looks like being the wettest August in over 100 years so I agree that some sunshine would be nice.
Perhaps we'll get an Indian summer this autumn to make up for for what has been a pretty dismal summer.
I like the photos, especially the birdbath with the ripples. For a moment there I thought that you'd written 'The sodd..g tree'!

Your mum was right. Look on the bright side. At least we won't have a hosepipe ban this year, and there's no scorched grass. It's tough on deck chair salesmen though................

I think I have similar thoughts as you on the shopping. I want to go to Lidl all the time but I think I would miss certain things. Is that a form of snobbery? I hope not, I've never thought of myself that way but there is something about the familiarity of the popular brand names. I wonder if I have made connections to my youth with my shopping trips?
Gooseberries are bloomin' awful! I can't imagine why anyone would want to eat something that has the ability to contort your facial expressions in such an unflattering way!

yuk, how you eat gooseberries (my mum used to call them goosegogs!!)...i remember as a kid having to pick them out of the garden!!!...i know what you mean about sainsbury's and the credit crunch...i've had to go to ASDA...god i hat that place!!...too many cutomers, crap staff, isles to narrow!!!...erh makes me shiver but have to go!
We did have a barbi the other week. I first tried MAKRO but most things are in bulk and we were only having a few people around so i went to 'ALDI@....oooo.....it was ok but i couldn't do my weekly shop there.
We do have a lidle but the nice one is 10 miles away!!...and i have found out ASDA deliver to our area now, but, you don't get the whoopsies!!..Have a good day

Hello Mr Flighty, I did think they looked a little over-ripe. I always thought Gooseberries were very green but it seems this is a normal colour (??)
Watching my kids faces as they tried the gooseberries gave me the impression they weren't too keen either!

That's such a shame about your fruit trees!
They look like grapes rather than gooseberries! I say that I don't like them but it's years since I've eaten any so perhaps it's time to try again.
