I like busy weeks, they make me appreciate the weekends a little more.
I'm going to post at least once a week here... I hope. I like the few blogs I've found (so far!) and commented on this week and I was most grateful for finding JackFrost Hypothyroidism blog. It just helps when you know that there are others with similar problems and issues. Gives you another perspective even. For that I was grateful.

So, nothing too extravagant planned for the weekend. Shopping, washing up, wimmins work in the home. I may have to sweep up after my husband if he manages to make a start, or should I say a finish, on the staircase... we are into the fifth year. It's time it was finished. He told me to put the step ladders in the living room as that would urge him on to make a start. I'd put them in bed with him if I thought it would help!

I'm hoping to go here this weekend. (I'm still not very good at adding links and images!)
http://www.culture24.org.uk/art/art73067
I'll try and get some photographs and share next week!

I noticed a photograph of the most beautiful sunrise and it was taken in my region and it was in OK! Magazine. (I'm not admitting to reading that rubbish... I just look at the pictures! )
Blog.Co.Uk sent me an e-mail saying I hadn't logged in for over 90 days. I must admit to just completely forgetting about the place. I did a couple of entries a while back and I quite liked the meeting the few responders I had. I do have a friend over here who blogs a every now and then but all the others were new 'faces'.
Things are pretty uneventful in my everyday life I suppose I just feel I haven't enough to share. (For two blogs, as I already have a blog that I use only a little bit more than this one!) Why do I even have two blogs if I haven't enough to fill one!
*I'm loving all these little smiley's! I could play for hours! I think I'd be able to use every expression at least once!
Having mentioned the uneventful day to day life, last Satruday was a little bit different! I remember saying to myself on the morning,
"Wouldn't it be nice if something a little exciting happened today?"
*Wish granted*
Our bit of excitement was the discovery of Fly!
We were all just fastening our seatbelts up in my car as we were going to visit the local pet store to buy Scruff, my dads dog, a new coat.
My dad noticed the collie at the top of the street and we all thought it unusual to see a dog wandering on its own. We watched it for a while longer as the dog appeared to take a 'hiding' position down the side of a parked car. The only problem with that the dog was 'hiding' on the roadside so cars were having to swerve and slow down to avoid it. I was concerned and just like what any other concerned mother would do, I sent my daughter up the road to coax the dog onto the safety of the pavement. My daughter checked the dogs collar and discovered a name and number disc. THat's when we found out his name was fly. So I telephoned his 'mum' and explained what had happened. She was delighted, you see her husband had already telephoned her to say that Fly had been spooked by a firework (middle of a Saturday afternoon!) and had took off. He had been searching for him for the past two hours.
My daughter opened the car door for Fly, it took him three seconds to jump in and take a comfy space next to Scruff. Scruff was highly excited! A Friend!
Withing 10 minutes he was delivered back to a rather happy owner!

So that was my excitement. It wasn't much vut it brightened my day! Oh and I got to meet FLly who was one of the cutest collies I have ever come across.

BTW! Scruff looks mighty fine in her new barbour jacket! Very swish!

 Comments

Where have I been?

Well I haven't really been anywhere... I think I just sort of got lost in my busy days and I may have *ahem* forgotten about this place. It was the e-mail that reminded me. "You have not logged in for 60 days...."
Lets catch you all up...

1. My job is about as secure as as an old man with a wooden leg on a skateboard.
2. My dad is considering sueing the Flu Jab people....
3. My little hamster is recovering from a stroke. (Very well I might add) He dragged his little leg around for a day or two, I rang the vet who having been told his age, (almost 3) told me just to make sure he was confortable and be prepared for the worst. I was, it didn't happen, he's still shuffling around,...
4. My daughter has finally caught up with the other teenage girls and is badgering me for make-up and expensive perfume. *groan* Well, it had to happen, I guess I was lucky she lasted till she thirteen and three months.
5. I recieved my first ever speeding fine and three penalty points for driving 35 miles per hour in a 30. It was on Station road at Telford. (Bleeding expensive wedding that turned out to be!)
6. My son is 18 years of age on Wednesday! I'm taking bets on how long it takes him to mention the words "Tattoo" and "Old Enough" in the same sentance! Boy do I feel old today!
7. Taking years off my age, I did manage to get tickets to see Pink in April. I tried to get them at Newcastle but the fleecing ticket people where getting on my last nerve so I booked up for Manchester. (They are actually for my daughter and my husband who both love Pink for totally different reasons!)
8. I'm going to see the Saw Doctors at Newcastle on Friday night! Yay for that!

I think that is about it really... I'm going to try and stay faithful this time even if it's just once a week.
If you remember me, I mean to say, I wasn't really about for long, please stop by and stay hi. If you don't know me at all don't let that stop you!

 Comments

Empty Nest/Full Nest

It's not unusual for me to come home from work and be on my own. (My daughter lives in her bedroom...well she's 13, what do I expect?)I don't complain, in fact it's nice to not have to watch Sky Sports news all of the time. Sometimes though, you just wish that you had some company.
I was so pleased today when I found out my husband was taking a half shift. More good news was that my son and his girlfriend were having a night in our house for a chage. With the possibility of my daughter leaving the darkest depths of her bedroom for a short while I was quite beside myself with the thought of having loads of company.
The reality?
My daughter is in her bedroom.
My husband is in the conservatory reading one of those books that you can't put down.
My son and his girlfriend are snuggling on the sofa in the living room watching a dvd.
Me?
I'm in the back room on my own....
It's great having company! *rolls eyes*

 Comments

Rain, rain go away...

Really? Do I really want it to go away? Ok, so it's a little mood altering. It has the power to bring your spirits crashing to the ground from the soaring heights of the sunny days we remember.
It's romantic though. Through life I have learned that if you look for the good it's always there. Every gloom ridden object has a shinier side...somewhere. I always look for the good. It's there, my mum taught me that. Sometimes it just takes a while to discover the beauty hidden underneath all the darkness.

The freshly filled birdbath... I've tried to capture the moment the raindrops hit the water.. there is something magical about watching the ripples form their circles until they disappear.

The dusky skies filled with threatening darkness, yet it looks full of beauty and it stirs this powerful emotion in me. It's almost hypnotic. I'd watch the sky all day if it wasn't for the fact that I'd keep walking into lamposts..

The sodden tree. Reflecting the light that is escaping from the breaking clouds. I think this, for me, screams out "Hope!"

Having said that would a little bit of sunshine be too much to ask for? It is August after all...

 Comments

Gooseberry Pie?

The threatened rain held off and it's been a pleasantly warm day regardless of the rather blustery wind.
Credit crunch awareness has taken a front seat lately and I decided to turn my back on J.Sainsbury and his money grabbing competition and for a change I took my dad to Lidl. It was a good shopping day. Plenty of different things filled the trolley and a few little luxuries had managed to jump from the shelves (unaided) into the passing trolley. With fewer people, pushchairs and rogue trollies to negotiate, my dad had a calm amble around the aisles.
Once home, with my dad settled on the sofa, he's fighting an awful cold at the moment that he just can't seem to shake off, I busied myself with lunch.
I did the unthinkable after lunch and I wandered into the garden where my husband was going bananas with a saw and a pair of fancy looking scissors. We've been plagued with greenfly and sadly, as a result we have had to cut back all of the fruit trees. Three apple trees, which haven't fruited in a few years and one plum tree which provides us with the worst plums you have ever tasted, every year.
Once they were cut back I filled my 'wasp catching' things with a waspy mouth watering fluid made up of washing up liquid, sugar and water.

I must admit I looked rather useful wandering the lawn with a rake. I hasten to add I wasn't really being useful but the thought was there. As my husband sawed, I 'raked' and my dad discovered a secret stash of gooseberries and proceeded to pick the (slightly over)ripened berries.

Glad to find another job other than 'raking' the twigs and leaves strewn around the garden I took the gooseberries away to clean them.
After a wash and a painstaking mission of removing all of the stalks they looked ready to eat.

Now all I have to do is decide what to do with them. I have some ideas and I'm sure, that with enough coaxing, I may be able to talk my husband into trying one of these.

 Comments

Once upon a time...

I have the heart of a writer but sadly that is where my talent begins and ends. So the next best things is to find somewhere to hoard all my ideas and dreams. Somewhere where you know they will be safe until you are inspired... until your muse appears. I'm certain my muse is down the back of the sofa, that's where everything is when it's lost. She'll be there, along with an odd sock, a crisp packet and a twenty pence piece.
You need somewhere to keep all of your triggered memories too. You need somewhere to store all your new stories, you know the kind. The time when you went to get your uni-brow waxed for the first time.. how good you felt when you realised it wasn't one long brow... it was actually two!
You always need somewhere to moan about things. The cost of living, the Olympics, Penny Smiths first novel..
Oh Books, I need somewhere to list all the books I have read or I intend to read. It will be good to document the day I managed to upgrade my reading level from Enid Blyton stories to something more befitting a woman of my years. (I am reading Undercover Angel by Katie Price but I'm not sure that counts... can you really compare Katie Prince to Enid Blyton? I think not.)
So it would seem a strange place to start...Almost in the Middle...

 Comments
